Haapsalu Church of St Alexander Nevsky

Haapsalu Church of St Alexander Nevsky

The Haapsalu Church of St Alexander Nevsky is a historic Orthodox church on Surnuaia Street, originally built as an auxiliary cemetery church. The building was completed in 1896–1897, and its design is marked by a tented roof, a small onion dome and a porch with a bell tower. The church’s exterior is linked to a design by the St Petersburg architect A. F. Krassovsky. After the church was closed in 1962, the original iconostasis was moved to the Orthodox church in Kiviõli. Today an Orthodox congregation uses the building. When planning a visit, note the published weekend opening hours, as no regular visiting times are listed for other days.
