Osmussaar Lighthouse

Osmussaar Lighthouse

Osmussaar Lighthouse stands in Osmussaare village in Lääne County, on the island's northwestern side, which visitors reach by boat from the mainland. The present black-and-white striped concrete tower was built in 1954 and rises 35 metres above the ground. It guides ships along Estonia's northern coast and is one of the island's most prominent structures. The lighthouse is open to visitors, but the boat trip to the island must be arranged in advance, and access may depend on the weather. It is a separate sea mark from Saxby Lighthouse on Vormsi. The surrounding stony shore and open sea are part of the setting's distinctive view.
