The Russian-language history and art lecture “Raamatukogu portreedes. Suured autorid läbi sajandite” (Library in Portraits: Great Authors Through the Centuries) takes place on 25 October at Narva Castle. Yuliia Khlystun introduces three authors who shaped European thought: Augustine, Jerome and Bernard of Clairvaux. The starting point is the series of 17th-century portrait paintings in the castle’s exhibition. Listeners learn how these authors’ texts influenced European literature, education and religious thinking. At the end of the lecture the portraits are viewed together. It starts at 13.00 and lasts 75 minutes.
