Lecture “Forgotten Christmas Symbols: From the Ancient Seashell to the Bethlehem Cave”

The history lecture “Unustatud jõulusümbolid: antiiksest merekarbist Petlemma koopani” (Forgotten Christmas Symbols: From the Ancient Seashell to the Bethlehem Cave) takes place on 29 November at Narva Castle. The Russian-language meeting focuses on images connected with Christmas, their historical meanings and cultural links. The lecture’s theme combines the symbolism of the ancient world, the Christian artistic tradition and different ways of depicting the Christmas story. The Narva Museum’s programme offers a chance to prepare for Advent with knowledge that helps to better understand old works of art and religious motifs. The event takes place at Narva Castle; the start time and participation conditions should be checked with the organiser.
