Pärnu Jetty

The Pärnu mole is one of the recognizable symbols of maritime Pärnu and a popular walking spot at the river mouth. Stone moles appeared here in the 19th century to protect the navigable channel from sand buildup; the construction of more permanent structures was completed in 1869. Today, a boardwalk from the seaside park leads to the mole, after which the route continues over stones towards the bay. At low water levels, you can see the remains of the wooden structures of the former construction, while at high water, certain sections may be flooded. A well-known urban legend is associated with the place: it is believed that a kiss at the end of the mole brings good luck to lovers. Open views of Pärnu Bay and sunsets look particularly expressive here.
