Maailmamuusika. The Naghash Ensemble (Armeenia/USA)

On 15 March 2027 The Naghash Ensemble gives a world music concert at Pärnu Concert Hall where Armenian musical tradition meets a contemporary sound language. The ensemble’s programme features “Songs of Exile” by John Hodian, based on texts by the medieval Armenian poet and clergyman Mkrtich Naghash. The performers are singers Hasmik Baghdasaryan, Tatevik Movsesyan and Shahane Zalyan and instrumentalists Tigran Hovhannisyan, Aram Nikoghosyan and Emmanuel Hovhannisyan. John Hodian takes part in the concert as pianist and composer. The music uses the duduk, oud, dhol, piano and three female voices, combining traditional sound colours with contemporary compositional techniques. The concert starts at 19.00 and the announced duration is about an hour and a half without an interval.
