The history lecture “The Fateful ‘Kratt’ and the March 1944 Bombing” takes place on 18 February at the Estonia restaurant in Tallinn. Theatre archivist Jaak Jõekallas discusses the events of 9 March 1944, when the bombing of Tallinn also destroyed the Estonia theatre building. That evening Eduard Tubin’s ballet “Kratt” was on stage. The lecture opens up the historical background of the work, the course of that fateful night and its effect on Estonia Theatre. Photographs and archive materials help show how the history of music theatre and of the city intertwined. The session is in Estonian, lasts 75 minutes and is recommended from age 8.
