Indoors

The exhibition “Kes kardab emadust?” takes place in the large hall of the Kumu Art Museum in Tallinn from 6 November 2026 to 25 April 2027. The international contemporary art display explores motherhood as a personal experience and a social institution, dealing with parenthood, care, family relationships and the expectations attached to them. The works look at, among other things, reproductive rights, childlessness, single parenthood, different forms of family and the impact of violence and war on people’s lives. Artists from several countries take part, including Renate Bertlmann, Maria Kapajeva, Edith Karlson, Kateryna Lysovenko and Jaan Toomik. The curator is Eda Tuulberg and the exhibition designer is Flo Kasearu, whose work brings the approaches of different artists together into a whole. The exhibition is accompanied by a public programme and a bilingual book that open up its themes from additional perspectives.
