University of Tartu Museum and Tartu Cathedral

The University of Tartu Museum is located on Toome Hill inside the historic University of Tartu Cathedral, one of the city's most important medieval monuments. The cathedral was built in the 13th–16th centuries, and today its restored choir section serves as a museum dedicated to the history of the university, science, and academic life in Tartu. The exhibitions connect the history of the building with the story of the university and the city; for families, there are interactive spaces, including the Mad Scientist's Laboratory. From May to September, visitors can also access the cathedral towers with viewing platforms and a panorama of downtown Tartu. It is a rare place where medieval ruins, a museum, and a city viewpoint form a single route.
