Viljandi Suspension Bridge

The red suspension bridge in the Castle Hills is one of the most recognizable views of Viljandi. The pedestrian bridge, about 50 meters long, spans a deep valley and connects the Order Castle ruins area with the former manor park. The structure was manufactured in Riga in 1879 and originally served in another location, later becoming an important part of the walking route through Lossimäed. The gentle sway underfoot, green slopes, and proximity of medieval ruins create a romantic atmosphere characteristic of Viljandi. The bridge is especially appreciated as part of a general walk through the Castle Park and viewpoint areas over the lake.
