Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “La traviata” is performed on 9 January at the Kuressaare Sports Centre as part of the Vanemuine National Theatre’s guest programme. Samuel Harjanne’s production tells of the love story of Violetta and Alfredo, whose course is shaped by social expectations and family conflicts. The events of the classic opera are set in the Art Deco era of the 1920s. The Vanemuine opera soloists, chorus and symphony orchestra perform; the opera is sung in Italian with Estonian and English surtitles. The Kuressaare performance starts at 19.00 and lasts 2 hours 30 minutes.
