Exhibition “When Men Were Made of Iron: Historical Armour by a Modern Master”
The exhibition “Kui mehed olid rauast: ajaloolised raudrüüd tänapäeva meistrilt” is open in the exhibition hall of the north-eastern wing of Kuressaare Castle. It presents handmade works by Poland-based armourer Sergei August, created using historical techniques. Visitors can see replicas of knights’ and soldiers’ equipment from the 15th–17th centuries: battle and tournament armour, horse armour, battle axes and pikes. A special exhibit is a replica of the gilded ceremonial “Lion Helmet” from the 16th century. Organised by the Saaremaa Museum, the exhibition is open until the end of November and suits anyone interested in medieval warfare and masterful metalwork.
The exhibition is open 22.01.–29.11.2026.
