The second Kuressaare performance of the Vanemuine National Theatre’s tragicomedy “Mägede iluduskuninganna” (The Beauty Queen of Leenane) takes place on 7 January at the Kuressaare Theatre. In Martin McDonagh’s play, the mother Mag and her daughter Maureen live together in a small Irish country house where ordinary domestic chores turn into constant conflicts. When a chance of love appears in Maureen’s life, the confrontation between mother and daughter grows even sharper. Ain Mäeots’ production combines psychological drama with black humour. The performance is part of the “Kultuurilaine üle mere” festival programme. Tickets are sold out.
