Ontika cliff

Ontika cliff

Ontika cliff is located in Ida-Viru County and is the highest limestone cliff in Estonia, reaching a height of about 55 meters. These rocks are like a stone book, revealing layers from different eras to the viewer. The nearby observation tower, built close to the Valaste waterfall, offers the best view of the cliff. Visitors can also hike along the coastal trail to explore the unique forest associated with the cliff. Ontika cliff is part of the over 1100 km long Baltic limestone cliff that starts from the Swedish island of Öland and ends near Lake Ladoga in Russia. The longest uninterrupted section extends 23 kilometers from the village of Saka to the vicinity of Toila.
