Peter the Great House Museum

Peter the Great House Museum

The Peter the Great House Museum is in Tallinn's Kadriorg Park on Mäekalda Street and introduces the Russian Emperor Peter I and the early history of the Kadriorg area. The small historic residence was used by the emperor before Kadriorg Palace was completed, and a museum opened in it as early as 1806. The display includes period objects, furniture, artworks and historical documents. The building's modest architecture contrasts with the festive appearance of the nearby baroque palace and helps to understand how Kadriorg became an imperial summer residence. One of Tallinn's oldest museums, it offers a chance to discover the park's history in a smaller, more intimate setting.
