In the Footsteps of Estonia Theatre: Johann Strauss and his operetta “Die Fledermaus”

Jaak Jõekallas’s lecture on Johann Strauss’s operetta “Die Fledermaus” takes place on 13 February at the Estonia restaurant in Tallinn. Part of the history lecture series “In the Footsteps of Estonia Theatre”, it introduces the Viennese operetta tradition and the story behind Strauss’s well-known stage work. The focus is on the musical world of the operetta, its long-lasting popularity and the various productions of “Die Fledermaus” in the history of Estonia Theatre. The archivist draws on historical materials that help reveal the work’s background and the development of music theatre. The lecture is in Estonian, starts at 17.00 and lasts 1 hour 15 minutes.
