“Kadri’s Claws Are Freezing” is a choir concert inspired by the folk calendar at the Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn. The ETV Girls’ Choir, conducted by Aarne Saluveer, performs music from Veljo Tormis’s choral cycle “Estonian Calendar Songs”, including Martinmas, St Catherine’s Day and swing songs. Folk musician Cätlin Mägi takes part with the bagpipes and the jaw harp. At the concert the singing is not limited to the stage: the choir moves through the hall and the audience can join in some of the songs. This daytime event suits visits by several generations together and introduces old Estonian singing customs through a direct musical experience. If you like, you can come dressed as a Martinmas or St Catherine’s Day mummer.
