“May the Past Be Recoloured?” Lecture evening with Andrus Laansalu

Andrus Laansalu's lecture evening takes place at the Photo Museum in Tallinn and focuses on the colours of historical photographs and how memory works. The lecture explores why different eras appear to us in certain colour tones and how the ageing of photographic materials affects our perception of the past. Digital colourisation of black-and-white pictures is also discussed: does adding colour change only the image or also our idea of history? Laansalu connects questions of photography with art history, conservation and memory studies. Entry to the Photo Museum event requires a separate ticket.
