The ballet evening “The Rite of Spring” takes place on 25 October at the Vanemuine Large House in Tartu. Made up of two short productions, the evening combines Jevgeni Grib’s “Läbi/paistva” (“Seen Through”) and Edward Clug’s stage version of Igor Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring”. The first work deals with ageing and a dancer’s changing relationship with the body and stage presence. The second draws on a pagan sacrificial ritual and Stravinsky’s powerful music. The Vanemuine ballet company and symphony orchestra take part in the productions. It is a chance to see, in a single evening, two choreographers’ different approaches to contemporary ballet. The performance lasts one hour and fifty-five minutes.
