Swedish Lion Monument
The Swedish Lion monument stands on the high bank of Narva and commemorates the 1700 battle when the Swedish army of Charles XII won one of the first major battles of the Great Northern War. The modern monument was unveiled in 2000 and replicates the design of an earlier monument destroyed during World War II. The lion is mounted on a massive pedestal in an open space, offering clear views of the river, the historical fortifications area, and the opposite bank. Due to its combination of history and panoramic location, it is not just a memorial site, but a convenient stop on a walking route through the western part of central Narva.

Narva Castle
Narva Castle is the main historical symbol of the city and one of the most impressive medieval fortresses in Estonia. Its history begins in the 13th century, and the most recognizable part of the complex, the Hermann Tower, rises above the Narva River directly opposite the Ivangorod Fortress. Today, the castle houses a museum with a permanent exhibition on the history of Narva, temporary exhibitions, and routes through the interior spaces of the fortress. In summer, the North Yard is particularly interesting, where the historical environment is complemented by craft and museum programs. From the tower and the castle grounds, a view rare for Europe opens up: two large fortresses stand opposite each other on different sides of the state border.

Kreenholm Manufacture
The Kreenholm Manufacturing Company is a vast 19th-century industrial ensemble on Kreenholm Island and one of Narva's most unusual historical sites. Once one of Europe's largest textile manufacturers, the factory spawned a complete industrial environment featuring production buildings, canals, and workers' quarters. The red-brick architecture is particularly impressive for its scale and location right next to the Narva Waterfalls and the state border. The area is not a standard freely accessible museum; guided tours and special visits are organized inside the historical complex. Therefore, Kreenholm is best viewed as a separate industrial route that should be planned in advance.

Narva River Promenade
The Narva River Promenade is one of the best routes for exploring the city without museum walls. The promenade runs along the Narva River near historical bastions and offers direct views of the Ivangorod Fortress on the opposite bank. Here, modern landscaping coexists with powerful stone fortifications: there are walking paths, viewpoints, relaxation areas, and access points to the historical center. The promenade looks especially expressive closer to Narva Castle, where the river, the two fortresses, and the state border line merge into a single landscape. It is a convenient connecting point between the castle, the bastions, and other sites in central Narva.

Narva Victoria Bastion Casemates
The casemates of Victoria bastion allow visitors to literally descend inside the 17th-century defense system of Narva. The bastion was part of the city's large-scale Swedish fortifications designed by military engineer Erik Dahlberg, and its underground passages were used to protect the fortress walls and house the garrison. Today, part of the historical casemates has been turned into a museum route with an exhibition on Narva's fortifications and military history. The atmosphere here is noticeably different from a conventional museum: brick vaults, narrow passages, and cool underground rooms help convey the real scale of the fortification. A visit combines particularly well with a walk along the bastion belt and the Narva River promenade.

Narva Town Hall
Narva Town Hall is a historic 17th-century building on Town Hall Square in Narva, restored and reopened to visitors in 2023. It is one of the few buildings in the old centre to have survived the destruction of the Second World War. Today it houses the tourist information centre and the city's ceremonial rooms; on a guided tour visitors can see the town hall's rooms and learn how its role has changed. A separate VR exhibition about pre-war Narva is also available in the building. The town hall's architecture and the nearby modern Narva College make the square a place to explore different periods of the city's history.

Narva Art Gallery
Narva Kunstigalerii is an art gallery of the Narva Museum on Vestervalli Street in Narva, located in a historic 18th-century gunpowder cellar building. The permanent exhibition "Life or Karma? Narva Stories" features works from various eras, ranging from Baroque to contemporary art. Of particular interest are the icon collection and the model of pre-war Narva, which offers a glimpse into the blocks and streets that vanished during World War II. The gallery hosts temporary exhibitions, museum workshops, and guided tours, connecting its art collection with the history of the border town.

Pimeaed
Pimeaed is a historical park located on the bastions of Narva, near the river and the old town center. It is considered the city's oldest park and retains the features of late 19th-century landscape architecture. Its alleys and green slopes offer a peaceful walking route over the former fortifications, with certain spots providing views toward the border river. Within and near the park, there are memorial signs related to the Siege of Narva during the Great Northern War and the events of the Estonian War of Independence. It is a convenient place for a stroll between historical fortifications and urban sights.

Five-Kroon Viewpoint
The Five-Kroon Viewpoint is a viewing platform on Igor Grafovi Street in Narva, known for its panorama of two fortresses on opposite sides of the river. Its name refers to the reverse side of the former Estonian five-kroon banknote, which depicted Narva Castle, the river and Ivangorod Fortress. From here the position of the fortifications and the border between the two countries is especially clear. Stairs connect the viewpoint with the riverside promenade and the Joaorg recreation area, so it fits easily into a walking route through historic Narva.

Narva Aleksandri kirik
Narva Aleksandri kirik is a Lutheran church on Kiriku Street in Narva, built in 1881–1884 for the workers of the Krenholm Manufacturing Company. The building was designed by architect Otto Pius von Hippius; the bell tower was destroyed during the war and later restored. Today, the church attracts visitors not only with its architecture: inside, there is a light installation "Sky over Narva" that tells the city's history through projections on the vaults. Visitors can also explore the history of Narva's churches, and visiting the tower completes the experience with a panoramic view of the cityscape.

The building is also of interest to architecture enthusiasts, as its contemporary form stands right next to Narva Town Hall. The building can be viewed from outside on Town Hall Square; access to the interior depends on the college's schedule and public events.

The lit fitness trails are used for skiing in winter and for running, walking and cycling the rest of the year. The area has mountain bike trails, children's playgrounds, hiking trails and rest areas. Trails of different lengths let you choose between a gentle walk and a longer workout. Adolf Hahn Stairs
The Adolf Hahn Stairs are a historic staircase in Narva linking the Dark Garden (Pimeaed) area with the riverside walkway along the Narva River. The stairs were built in 1875 on the initiative of the then mayor Adolf Hahn and bear his name. Later construction work changed the original length of the stairs, and one section ended up underground when a new bridge was built. The staircase has been thoroughly restored, with the latest reconstruction completed in 2023. As an architectural structure in its own right, it helps visitors understand the levels of the townscape and historic routes through it. The stairs are not the same as the Dark Garden or the Narva river promenade as a whole.

Narva Hospital Building
The historic Narva Hospital Building on Haigla Street was completed in 1913 to a design by architect Aleksandr Vladovsky. Its construction was linked to the development of the Kreenholm industrial district and the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty's rule. The facade and architectural details of what was then a modern hospital give an idea of Narva's building culture in the early 20th century. The building was damaged in the Second World War but largely restored to its original form. It still houses a medical facility today, so it is best viewed from outside, with respect for the hospital's work and patients' privacy.

The bronze sculpture is dedicated to Narva-born international chess grandmaster Paul Keres and was unveiled to mark the centenary of his birth. Its authors, Aivar Simson and Paul Mänd, portrayed the chess player at a board so that passers-by can sit opposite him and ponder the next move. The sculpture refers to a game against Walter Browne played in Vancouver in 1975. It is a standalone public memorial, not the Pushkin monument or the fortress viewing platform.

Valaste Waterfall
Valaste Waterfall is in Ontika village, Ida-Viru County, on a high limestone escarpment. A drop of more than thirty metres makes it Estonia's highest waterfall, and from the viewing platform you can watch both the water and the geological layers of the cliff. During the spring floods the flow is stronger; in winter cold winds from the sea can turn the water droplets into ice sculptures. The surroundings invite a stop to explore the clint coast, but take care near the escarpment and on wet stairs. The amount of water depends on the weather and is not the same on every visit.

The park survives from the former manor and presidential summer residence, and its paths lead to various tree species, avenues and viewpoints. On a walk you can look for the Silver Spring cave (Hõbeallika koobas) and reach the Swallow's Nest viewpoint overlooking the sea. The palace itself, destroyed in the Second World War, can no longer be seen, but its site and the park's design tell the story of the place. The park can be visited all year round; the virtual history tour is a separate activity.
