The jazz concert by Mathei Florea and New Grounds takes place at Vanemuine Concert Hall in Tartu. The eight-piece ensemble based in Berlin combines Nordic contemporary jazz with classical string sound. The line-up led by pianist and composer Mathei Florea features violins, viola, cello, trumpet, double bass and drums, and vocals are heard too. Nature-inspired imagery, layered harmonies and improvisation play an important part in the ensemble’s work. The musicians have released the album “Snap” and are preparing a new studio album. The concert lasts about an hour and a half without an interval.
