Regilaulupesa: Songs of Räpina Parish / Urmas Kalla

On 8 December 2026 at 19.00 an evening of regilaul (Estonian runic song) led by Urmas Kalla takes place in the traditional music information collection of Pärimusmuusika Ait in Viljandi. The meeting centres on the song heritage of Räpina parish and the Võro-language singing tradition. Urmas Kalla grew up in Räpina parish in Mehikoorma and works at the Võro Institute. He has worked with traditional songs with the help of folklore archive staff and has taken part in the Seto leelo group Liinats’uraq and in the group Ütsiotsõ. The Regilaulupesa takes place once a month, and at each meeting an experienced lead singer guides the group singing. Participants can sing along regardless of previous experience, and the meetings are open to pupils and students too. A regular ticket costs 5 euros, and admission is free for students, pupils and children up to 12.
