Venice at the Crossroads of Eras

“Venice at the Crossroads of Eras” is an early music concert at the Viljandi Baptist congregation. The musicians of Cantores Vagantes present works by 17th-century Venetian composers from the transition between the Renaissance and the Baroque. The programme includes pieces by Dario Castello, Salomone Rossi, Giovanni Battista Riccio, Giovanni Battista Fontana and others. Performing are Reet Sukk and Taavi-Mats Utt on recorders, Priit Peterson on theorbo and Andrew Lawrence-King on harp and spinet. The concert focuses on the sound of historical instruments and the performance practice of the time, linking the music to the cultural history of Venice.
