Pärnu Beach

Nature & parks

Pärnu Beach

Pärnu beach is the main symbol of Estonia's summer capital and one of the city's most recognizable locations. A wide stretch of light sand and the shallow Pärnu Bay create particularly comfortable conditions for a summer holiday: the water near the shore warms up quickly, making the beach popular among families with children as well. Along the coast, there are walking areas, beach sports grounds, children's entertainment, and opportunities for water activities. Nearby are the seaside park, historical resort architecture, and a promenade with cafes and relaxation areas. This is not just a seasonal swimming spot: the coast is well-suited for walks and watching sunsets at any time of the year.

Indicative price: Beach access is free. Rentals, entertainment, and parking are paid separately.

Pärnu Moat

Nature & parks

Pärnu Moat

Pärnu Vallikäär is a historic area of former city fortifications, now transformed into one of Pärnu's most beautiful parks and walking routes. A well-maintained promenade runs around the moat, a pedestrian bridge spans the water, and the central fountain forms one of the most recognizable panoramas of this part of the city. Elements of the bastion landscape and passages between the earthen fortifications have been preserved here, recalling the time when Pärnu was a fortress city. The area also features an open-air amphitheater that hosts major city concerts and festivals. Vallikäär is easy to combine in a single walk with the nearby Tallinn Gate, the promenade, and the Old Town.

Indicative price: Park walk is free. Tickets for individual events are paid separately.

Pärnu rannapark

Nature & parks

Pärnu rannapark

Pärnu rannapark is a historical seaside park next to the central beach of Pärnu, where walking paths connect the urban resort architecture and green relaxation areas. The park was established in 1882 and later received conservation status thanks to its plant diversity. It features shady paths, thematic spaces for quiet rest and meetings, picnic spots, and a children's playground closer to the sea. A fitness trail runs through the park, and the proximity of the beach makes it easy to combine a walk among the trees with relaxation by the water. Unlike the open sandy shore, it is especially pleasant to take shelter in the shade here on a warm day.

Pärnu Children's Park

Pärnu Children's Park (Lastepark) lies beside Rüütli Street in the town centre and is a small green space in the historic townscape. In summer a fountain, street musicians and various performances bring it to life; in winter light decorations add atmosphere. The park has memorial benches and animal carousels for children that can be used all year round. A walk in the Children's Park combines well with visiting the old town's shops and cafés. Unlike the large beach park, it is a compact meeting and resting place in the centre whose mood changes with the seasons.

Valgerand Beach

Valgerand is a sandy beach in Valgeranna village, Pärnu County, a short trip from the town. A lit footpath leads from the car park to the sea through the coastal forest. Near the beach are an observation tower, a children's playground, an adventure park and a disc golf course, but check the conditions for these activities separately.
