The Cripple of Inishmaan — 31 October

“The Cripple of Inishmaan” is a tragicomedy by Martin McDonagh in the large hall of Ugala Theatre in Viljandi. The action takes the audience to Ireland in 1934, to the small island of Inishmaan, where the community’s everyday life is filled with gossip, relationships and dreams of a better future. Young Billy wants to escape the island’s limited world and find a new direction for his life. In Diana Leesalu’s production, sharp humour, human loneliness and the wish to belong intertwine. The performance lasts three hours and twenty-five minutes including an interval and offers a chance to get to know contemporary Irish drama.
